The Pennfield School has a strong history of working with military families, welcoming about 14 annually and making them part of our community. They arrive from all over the world—from Azerbaijan, Oman, England, India, Norway and the United States, among other places. Typically at the school for one to three years, they blend right in with our students. Indeed, there’s a real appreciation for military families here—we celebrate their presence by hanging flags from their home countries in our gymnasium, taking a military photo each year that we hang by our front desk, holding a Veterans Day assembly, and inviting parents to talk about their service. We once Skyped with a father in Saudi Arabia at a school assembly!
