Welcome

At The Pennfield School, we know that military families navigate unique transitions, and we welcome them with open arms. Whether your child joins us for a few years or stays through eighth grade, they become part of a school community that values connection, support, and belonging.

We understand the unique challenges that come with military life. We’re here to help make every transition smoother. At Pennfield, children quickly find belonging through meaningful friendships, engaged learning, and caring teachers who meet each student where they are. Parents, too, feel the warmth of our community and the comfort of knowing their child is in a place where they are seen, supported, and celebrated.

Today, more than 25 of our students are part of military families. We are always happy to connect you with current or past military parents who can share firsthand what their experience has been like at Pennfield.

“We were exceedingly pleased with Pennfield, and I would highly recommend it to incoming military families who, once again, find themselves making stressful decisions about where to send their child for a quality education. The three things that set Pennfield apart from the other schools in the area were the courteous professionalism the staff showed, the charismatic student body and the sense of community the school provided.”

As a Royal Navy family, we were posted to Newport for a 3 year posting. After visiting several of the local schools we chose The Pennfield, and have been extremely happy with the educational level and care that the staff has given our son ever since. The US and UK education systems are a little different, but the school made the transition painless. When my husband retired and we returned to Rhode Island, and our son rejoined The Pennfield School. He has integrated back with ease, and is doing well academically. The school has been very accommodating and certainly understands military life and the unique problems we have faced.
