Founded in 2024, the Center for Student Success (CSS) is available to support individual learning needs and nurture student success. Based on the understanding that every child is unique in how they learn, CSS offers an integrated approach to learning that turns challenges into opportunities for students at all levels. Support focuses on helping students recognize their own learning style and develop strategies for personal and academic growth. The CSS is housed in a sensory-friendly room that allows students who are neurodiverse to receive targeted intervention and support as deemed necessary by formal evaluations and classroom teacher assessments. It also provides support for students who are at an accelerated level to provide greater challenges in their academic program. The CSS team consists of literacy specialists, a math interventionist, a Student Wellness Coach, an Occupational Therapist, classroom teachers, and administrator working together with families to support individual student needs. Based on learning objectives, students can participate in small-group work to help them gain academic independence and greater self-awareness and confidence.
Social and Emotional Wellness
At Pennfield, we understand the importance of social and emotional wellness as foundational to student success. Guided by the principles of a Choose Love curriculum, we intentionally foster an environment rooted in courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion. Our Student Wellness Coach works with students to provide a gentle ear and helpful techniques to promote social/emotional wellness and academic growth. We provide a sensory arena all students can access whenever they need a quiet and nurturing space. When needed, clinical assessment and individualized support are provided in collaboration with families to ensure each student thrives throughout their Pennfield experience.
As part of our wellness programming, we host Mindful Mondays during assembly to help students start their week with intention and clarity, and offer yoga classes to encourage physical mindfulness, self-awareness, and calm.
