Pennfield’s middle school students traveled to Chewonki in Wiscasset, Maine, for their annual outdoor adventure. The tradition, held each fall, brings students together at the start of the school year to step away from technology, explore nature, and strengthen bonds with classmates.
Throughout the week, students took on outdoor challenges, worked together to accomplish camp responsibilities, and discovered the importance of teamwork and encouragement. From hiking and cooking to breaking down camp at the end of their stay, every activity gave them the chance to learn more about themselves and each other while living out Pennfield’s core values of joy, understanding, and respect.
The Chewonki trip sets the tone for the year ahead, giving middle schoolers the opportunity to return to campus with new friendships, fresh perspectives, and a strong sense of community. It was the perfect kickoff to what promises to be a fantastic year of learning at Pennfield.
