Since 2011, students in 6, 7, and 8 grade have had the opportunity to travel to abroad over spring break. This past school year, Head of School, Rob Kelley and his wife, Ann Cotter-Kelley, accompanied 4 students on a 10 day adventure to China, visiting Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai.

The trip provided an opportunity for students to see sites and to connect with our international students and their families. In Beijing, they toured Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, The SummerPalace, Ming Tombs, and of course, The Great Wall.

After Beijing they traveled by train to Xi’an, the ancient capital of China. In Xi’an students biked around the city’s 40 foot, 8.5-mile inner wall. They also visited the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, guardians of the tomb of emperor Qin Shi Huang, first Emperor of China.

Shanghai was the final stop on the adventure. The stunning skyline, a riverboat ride and a visit to Buddha Jade Temple were some of the highlights of China’s largest city.

For the 2018 spring break, students will have the opporunity to travel to the Spanish speaking country of Costa Rica.
