We are proud to introduce the Leadership Launch Scholarship: two $15,000 awards available to new incoming 8th-grade students. If your child is ready to grow, lead, and thrive in their final year of middle school, they may be eligible for this exciting opportunity.
About the Program:
Pennfield’s 8th grade program prepares students for success at the top regional and national high schools. Recent graduates attend schools such as Moses Brown, Phillips Exeter Academy, Pomfret School, Portsmouth Abbey, Portsmouth High School, St. George’s School, Tabor Academy, Wheeler, and others. Many students enter honors programs at these schools. The program offers a challenging and supportive environment that fosters intellectual curiosity, academic excellence, and personal growth.
Who Should Apply:
This scholarship is designed for new, incoming 8th-grade students who:
- Demonstrate strong academic achievement and a love for learning
- Show leadership potential in school, sports, or the community
- Embrace new challenges and demonstrate initiative and integrity
- Are motivated to make 8th grade a launching point for future succes
- Aspire to attend high schools with a solid academic foundation
Application Process:

- Schedule a campus visit and complete an academic screening.
- Submit an admission application at www.pennfield.org/application-process/, including:
- Two teacher recommendations
- Two years of academic transcripts
- Indicate “Leadership Launch Scholarship” in the “How did you hear about Pennfield?” section.
- Provide the following:
- One letter from a coach, mentor, or community leader highlighting your leadership and initiative
- A 350-500 word essay or 2-minute video titled, “Why I Want to Make 8th Grade Count”
- A short parent/guardian statement on your character and readiness for this opportunity
Recipients are welcome to apply for additional financial aid to help cover the remaining tuition balance after the scholarship has been applied.
To be considered for this scholarship, complete all the above steps by July 25, 2025. Current Pennfield students are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.
