Enter from the main hallway and you can’t help but notice the large colorful banners hanging from the rafters of the School’s bright and welcoming Library. They represent a tradition that each graduating class designs and creates a flag depicting their time at Pennfield. A few steps in and the graceful movement of the native fish and plant life in the 90 gallon aquarium catch your attention. Another glance around and you can’t help but notice the cozy nooks with pillow seating and sturdy tables and chairs perfect for studying or laying out a project. Each week from Nursery through Eighth Grade, students have scheduled time to spend in our well-stocked Library.
Veer off to the left immediately upon entering the Library and you are in the Technology Lab, a vibrant white space filled with computer stations. Teachers schedule class time in the Technology Lab for their students to learn keyboarding, research topics for class projects and to play interactive Math and Spanish quiz games. Early on, students are writing many of their papers using the computer and creating presentations utilizing multi-media tools. Upon graduation, students are well prepared to use technology as well as traditional resourcing skills to do research. They also have a solid, working knowledge of word processing, multi-media presentations and are adept at finding their way around on a computer for educational and class work purposes.
