Spring Break in China
Since 2011, Pennfield students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades have had the opportunity to travel to China over spring break. This year, Headmaster Rob Kelley and his wife, Ann Cotter-Kelley, accompanied 4 students on a 10 day adventure to China, visiting Beijing, Xi’an, and Shanghai.
The trip provided an opportunity for students to see sites and to connect with our international students and their families. In Beijing, they toured Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City, The SummerPalace, Ming Tombs, and of course, The Great Wall.
After Beijing they traveled by train to Xi’an, the ancient capital of China. In Xi’an students biked around the city’s 40 foot, 8.5-mile inner wall. They also visited the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, guardians of the tomb of emperor Qin Shi Huang, first Emperor of China.
Shanghai was the final stop on the adventure. The stunning skyline, a riverboat ride and a visit to Buddha Jade Temple were some of the highlights of China’s largest city.
