School "officially" commenced with the hoisiting of the Pennfield Flag at Opening Day at Pennfield School on Wednesday, September 1st! News at Pennfield
Beginning this 2010-2011 school year, Mattie Edwards-Kemp will be Pennfield School’s Assistant Head of School and Upper School Head. Mattie will be responsible for the curriculum, faculty professional development, student discipline, and the evaluation and supervision of faculty (along with Rob Kelley).
Without administrative responsibilities, Betsy Dickinson, will have large blocks of time to focus on teaching science (her passion) and to create and expand green initiatives in and around campus for students.
Please join us as we welcome a few new faces in the Faculty ranks this fall…
Erin Carr will teach Lower School Science. Erin is a recent graduate of Harvard University Graduate School of Education and earned a BA from Hofstra University in Elementary Education and Biology.
Sarah Coyne will be our Sixth Grade, Lower School, and Primary Department Spanish teacher. Sarah received a Master of Arts in teaching from Sacred Heart University and a BA in Spanish and Literature from the University of Rhode Island.
Our Fourth Grade teacher is Valerie Connor. Valerie holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Roger Williams University, a Juris Doctorate from American University, and a BS from Georgetown University in Business Administration.
Lindsay Lyons (who we all know as a veteran around here) will teach Third Grade. Lindsay has a Master of Education in Early Childhood Development from Lesley University and a BA in Education and Fine Arts from St. Lawrence University.
And finally, our Upper School Spanish teacher is Peter Dorrien Traisci. Peter has a Master of Arts in Spanish from Middlebury College and a BA in Spanish from Harding University.

First day of classes
The first bell is at 8:00 a.m.
The Community gathers at the flagpole at 8:30 a.m. to officially begin the school year.
2:45 p.m. Kindergarten dismissal
2:55 p.m. Grades 1-3 dismissal
3:00 p.m. Grades 4-5 dismissal
3:05 p.m. Upper School dismissal
