As a Royal Navy family, we were posted to Newport for a 3 year posting. After visiting several of the local schools we chose The Pennfield, and have been extremely happy with the educational level and care that the staff has given our son ever since. The US and UK education systems are a little different, but the school made the transition painless.  When my husband retired and we returned to Rhode Island, and our son rejoined The Pennfield School.  He has integrated back with ease, and is doing well academically. The school has been very accommodating and certainly understands military life and the unique problems we have faced.”

Welcome

Military Families

The Office of Admission encourages military families to apply to The Pennfield School at any point of entry from preschool (age 3) through grade eight. While your child may be with us for a brief time, we treat each child as if they will be here forever! Parents instantly feel that sense of commitment from our teachers and current families. Military children and families are always a wonderful addition to the life of our school. Currently, we have over 30 students whose parents serve in the military, both United States and abroad. We are happy to pass along the contact information of current and former military families.

We were exceedingly pleased with Pennfield, and I would highly recommend it to incoming military families who, once again, find themselves making stressful decisions about where to send their child for a quality education. The three things that set Pennfield apart from the other schools in the area were the courteous professionalism the staff showed, the charismatic student body and the sense of community the school provided.”

The Pennfield School recognizes the financial challenges of independent education. We will work with you to make our school an affordable option. We are able to offer a set amount of military rates for U.S. Active Duty families per grade and financial aid funds are available.  A government ID may be requested.

Tuition costs include: Early Bird before school care, Primary care from 1:00-3:00 p.m., Extended Day for grades 4-8, Athletics, Books/Fees, Technology (including laptops for grades 5-8), Field Trips (excluding the optional Upper School International Trip), Spring Musical, Yearbook, and Small Group Resource Support.
